WORSHIP & LEARN

We are a scripture

based church focused on studying God’s word and gratefully gathering on one accord to give Him praise and worship.

If you are not sure what it means to be a Christian or haven't really looked into the Bible much, that is completely OK! We have Bible Study and Sunday School classes that will help you in that discovery process in a friendly and open environment.

Have you been walking with the Lord for many years and are looking for a fellowship of other believers who know exactly what it means to rely on God in the mountaintop and valley experiences alike? You will find a family of educated, knowledgeable Christians who strive daily to live, breathe, and walk in the Spirit of God (and who are some of the most down-to-earth and loving people you will ever meet).

No matter your reason for seeking a church or wanting to get closer to the Lord, Log Providence exists to support you in your daily Christian walk.

Meet Our Pastor

Pastor David P. Ballenger - an African American man with a friendly smile, brignt eyes, and gray hair

Pastor David P. Ballenger

Pastor Ballenger has been the pastor and leader of the flock at Log Providence since 1983 - longer than any other Pastor at "The Log." His patience, kindness, and absolute dedication to the Lord keeps this flock together and focused on our Savior, Jesus Christ. Pastor Ballenger's faithful delivery of God's word is direct, honest, and also loving. He has said many times that he is not here to "preach us happy" or just tell us what we want to hear, but rather, to bring to us what the Lord has for us to receive. His consistent prayer is to know God's voice and be obedient to Him. Pastor can sense when someone is in need of prayer and will stop in the middle of a sermon to take care of it immediately if thus says the Lord.

Pastor has demonstrated a heart for the community as a Pastor and professional - from over 30 years working for IBM, to his career as a real estate agent in Columbia, and over 14 years serving on the Columbia School Board.

Pastor and First Lady Ballenger

Pastor is blessed to have his wife, Sandra Ballenger, as his helpmate and First Lady of Log Providence. She is an inspiration to everyone in the church, and especially the women and young ladies who see her as such an honorable example of a Christian woman and a wife. She has dedicated her professional life serving as a physical therapist since 1970 and has been at University Hospital for the majority of those years.

When you meet Pastor and Lady Ballenger, you will instantly feel their warmth and love for you as a child of God.

Dress Up!

The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

"The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart."

1 Samuel 16:7

Shut Up!

Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking.

"He who guards his lips guards his soul."

Proverbs 13:3

Stand Up!

If you don't stand up for something then you will fall for anything. Stand up for what you believe in.

"Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we  have opportunity, let us do good ..."

Galatians 6:9-10

Look Up!

To the Lord.

"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me."

Philippians 4:13

Reach Up!

For something higher.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path."

Your prayers.

"Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING."
